Ana Tiscornia

Born in 1951 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She is an artist and a curator; a professor at SUNY College at Old Westbury, and the art editor for Point Of Contact: The Journal of Verbal and Visual Arts in Syracuse, New York. She is the author of Avatares del imaginario visual: Entre la utopia y la identidad fragmentada (White Wine Press, a division of Smart Art Press, Santa Monica, California, and Distrito Cuatro, Galeria de Arte Barbara de Braganza, 2007, Madrid, España). She collaborates on publications such as Brecha in Uruguay and Art Nexus in Colombia. Her solo shows include On Location at the Allegra Ravizza Art Project in Milan, Italy; Tuning at the Leo Fortuna Gallery in New York; Sin Aviso at the Spanish Cultural Center in Montevideo, Uruguay and Noticias Breves at the Recoleta Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She participated in the II and IX Havana Biennales, and in the III Biennale in Peru. She curated Sculptures in Four Dimensions, Amelie A. Wallace Gallery, New York; Juan Manuel Echavarría, The Witness, Josee Bienvenu Gallery, New York; Bocas de ceniza at the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Corte de Florero / Flower Vase Cut at the B&H Gallery in New York; and Maureen Connor, E-videncias at the Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art in Argentina.
